hi I recently had to cancel a medical with atos as I was unwell with a "flu" type bug anyway they gave me a new appointment for next wednesday which I immediately told them i would be unable to attend as my son had an appointment that i needed to attend in Kings college hospital i was told that they had to book it but i could cancell it when i recieved the letter which i tried to do today only to be told that i couldn't as an appointment had been cancelled previously,I tried to explain and im both ashamed and embaressed to admit that the conversation became heated from myself which i'm sure hasn't helped,i've just been diagnosed yesterday with fibromyalgia and have good days and bad as many do and asked if i could request a home visit as suffer a great deal with public transport friend has actually taken a days holiday to drive us to Kings so don't have to use public transport I was told again no so as you can imaginge anger turned to tears and still is , what I want to know is what will happen now and will i be sanctioned on my benefit ? thanks in advance and sorry for waffling on

Would it be possible to rearrange your son's appointment? Sounds as if yours is the priority if your income depends on it.

I think you should be able to cancel the appointment and book another, I have certainly read of other people canceling two appointments and going on the third. It may be a good idea to speak to a supervisor.

You can have a medical at home but you would need a letter from your Doctor to say this was necessary.

many thanks have an appointment with my gp on monday so am going to ask him as also have had some of my meds changed and i've felt really drowzy all day from having amitriptyline increased to 30mg per night so certainly don't feel safe enough to take a bus regardless of the pain if that makes any sense .Also apparently it was the Atos manager in Cardiff that I spoke to who said they could not cancel the appointment.

unfortunately no this is not an option he has to have tests done so many months apart and we have waited the 6 months if this had been a possibility then i would have done this thanks anyway
