Anyone having problems with Grattan Payments systems

This is me at the moment

Grattan have driven me mad for months now. I have always paid (on time) via their website. Now, they have a new system where they split your account (depending on week terms) and I was given two accounts a few months ago.

I went on the internet, it still asked a minimum payment so paid it. Next I get a letter (and charge) sayin one of my accounts was not paid. They had put the whole payment against one account. Had to phone and ask them to split it as required. So now I can't pay via the website as there is no option to make seperate payments to the seperate accounts or statement saying how much where.

Okay, I calm down and they say I should only pay by phone in the future. Okay I'll do that.

Phone up using Quickserv, nice and easy, pay the minimum off one account, select, pay the minimum off the other, press finish, phone done, forget about it till next time.

Now I get a letter - you haven't paid heres TWO charges (how generous).

I go loopy, get a bank statement no monies have one out but I did the quickserv as instructed (my mother was even stood by me when I did!). I've been and checked my phone bill - sure enough there is the phonecall logged.

There response - oh well, it didn't work for some reason. really, really, you think?! Now they say it's best just to phone the operator to pay. So why the hell have the internet web payment site and quickserv.

The minimum payment on the website and the statements don't agree.

Basically, I do not have any love for Grattan at the moment an usually I'm such a caring person :A:rotfl:

I certainly will be after this. lodt all confidence in them and their system. If I wasn't paying my account fair dues, but it's like they don't want my money hehe!!
  • I have shopped with Grattan for 30 years!!! but recently since they have changed the way they deal with the accounts I have had nothing but trouble. I have experienced the same as you and each month I have to ring to get the £12 default taken off one of the accounts because they have applied two payments against one account - even though they are getting the full payment that they are asking for?!!!

I'm working as hard as I can to clear the remainder of the balance and then I will close the account down!!!

Thanks Ellie, I've been with them over 15 years. I'm sorry you're having the same problem but it's good to know it's not just me this has happened to - I suspected as much!

Just wanted to say I am having massive problems with my Grattan account on my DMP because of this payment system - they have set up like 7 different accounts within my main account but CCCS will only make one payment based on the total amount and send it with the main account ref. Grattan have basically told me that the need more money out of the DMP because of this system - CCCS say it is baloney and they get what they are getting now. Doh!!! I do have a letter from them confirming they will accept the DMP payment with no reference to separate accounts only my main ref number so think I may have the upper hand here...anyway will see.

  • Hi ,
    You are definitely not alone.
I had some things on buy now, pay later... when these were added to the account, they were added on the wrong weekly terms, 'total care', a fancy name for payment protection, was included, which I did not request, and had a huge bill due to their mess up.
Took 4 phone calls just to get the item on the correct weekly terms.
Another couple of calls to get them to drop the charges they added due to the mess up above.
And i am still waiting for the the unwanted 'total care' to be cancelled :(, I have now requested this 4 times on the phone to them, and they even have a recorded that I have requested this a number of times, the first request being in September 2009!!!!!

Just to add insult to injury , I was one day late making a payment in June 2009, and was not covered by the 'Total Care', although I have paid it for 10 years and never claimed on it!

In short, they have really p****d me off now , and would like to know if I can reclaim all of the 'Total Care' I have paid.

Has anyone already done this? If so how do I go about doing this? Will it require solicitors?

    Thanks,
    Neil

    Hi everyone,
I am also having problems with Grattan which I think may be caused by the new payments system, they kept sending me statements saying I was behind with my payments and everytime I paid what they asked for I woulkd get a letter saying I hadnt paid and a default payment. I tried to access my online account to check my payments and it said my status would not allow me to access the online account management facilities. I then had an email from them saying my online statement was available to view (I didnt even know they sent online statements) but when I tried to access it the same thing, your account status means you cannot access your account. So in desperation I emailed them (I object to paying for phone calls to companies that I am sending money to) I had an email back to say that because I hadnt made the required payments on time they had transfered my account to a company called EOS solutions and I should contact them. My query is that no 1 can they do that without letting me know first and no 2 if they no longer own my account how can they still be accepting my payments (the last one being made six days ago through my bank and accepted by them) I am very confused and quite angry as well and I have emailed them back asking for written confirmation of my last 4 payments.
Can anyone help or shed any light on whether their practices are legal and what I should do?

    Many thanks in advance
