I noticed this in the coming Aldi products...a pretty bog standard surge protector extension lead...not a bad price etc, but....if you look at the features there's a really nice one there. £2000 warranty on connected gear. That means...they fry and your' covered up to 2k which is unusual especially at this price.

Early morning visit is in order as this type of thing vanishes fast if you feel you want one.

Or for £2.60 less get this better quality Belkin 4-way surge protector costing £7.39, with a lifetime £25,000 "Connected Equipment Warranty" from Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00009RIP3/

Has anyone ever been paid by the manufacturer of one of these surge protectors in the event that it hasn't protected their equipment from a lightning strike or some other less severe surge? I have never, ever, seen anything about this, and would love to hear about an instance!
It might be similar to taking out insurance against an elephant falling on your house - they never do!0 -
lightning strikes are not power surges and are usually not covered, very little in fact will stop a lightning strike, you can only really re-direct it...0
