ECU, simply engine management, these are fundamentally the same engine.

No they aint. Take the engine covers off and you will see they are different. One is 8v and the other is 16v. Both are equally naff...!

How many of the previous posters have actually owned one rather then read problems on the internet?

IMO these are good cars and good value for money,

I've sold over 100 of these things and about 90% comeback with all sorts of problems. Half are minor ones like EGR valves, but the rest are manifold failures, turbos, etc...

Damn, they're that bad and you continue to sell them? How do you sleep at night?

I guess I've been lucky then

Thanks for that, mine was an educated guess being after all the car is a Vectra.

Honestly I had no idea about that, I bow to your superior knowledge.

I do know these are all Fiat sourced engined though.
  • I just make sure there is enough of a margin on them which averages out.

I run two of these as company vehicles, assuming this is the 9-3.

Both are '57' plate Vector Sport Anniversary models. One a Sportwagon manual, the second a saloon.

In the two years we;ve owned these from new the only warranty claim we've had is for a new seat cover for split stiching in the wagon.

The wagon is now approaching 43,000 miles the saloon auto 30,000. Neither has missed a beat, both 150 bhp models, both average around 37mpg.

Both are due for renewal in Aug 09 one will be replaced by a Mercedes 350 cdi, which has more to do with business improving than car disapointing.

I have to say on the experience of running two of these both have been very good. How many of the previous posters have actually owned one rather then read problems on the internet?

I managed to consistantly get a minimum of 45mpg on the 120bhp.
I think I get slightly less with the 2.0 Diesel Skoda. I would have gone for the 1.9 except it doesn't have a 6th gear which the 2.0 has. I got used to it in the 9-3. great for motorway cruising :)

Just what I thought. How do you get 37 mpg out of a diesel 9-3?

Quite easy to get late 30;s from these modern performance diesels as most people, including me just welly them about.
