For most unsecured lending they don't do checks.
In fairness, regarding this thread, the OP clearly knows they were at fault and isn't suggesting otherwise. Sadly the CAB seem to have told him or implied that it's all the bank's fault which is ridiculous.
What's important now is taking action to remedy his situation.0 -

Isn't that a bit like saying that if someone robs you in the street it's your fault for not checking out the area first.0 -
I would get in touch with the debt charities as im sure going bankrupt may have repercussions with fraud being involved, im sure the OR wont be too happy and maybe a BRU/BRO?Is a Bipolar bear

Danconet, I don't see that you have any other option but to file for bankrupcy.
Yes, you have committed fraud and it's a criminal offence. But you have no other option - you need to come clean. And the sooner the better as this situation is not going to improve or go away until you do.
You've not made it clear as to where the money has gone? What did you spend it on?"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
ILW... no it would not be the same as i am not potentially going out to get robbed or give my money away in the case of loaning i would expect the bank to take part responsibility of checking before loaning because they are potentially "choosing" to loan moneyI AM A MONEY MAGNET, THEY ARE MAKING MORE MONEY FOR ME AS WE SPEAK:pMIKES MOB, DFW NERD 1071, DFW LHS 132!MIRACLES HAPPEN I'VE SEEN IT WITH MY OWN EYES. Hi, i know most of you will think i am scum, i don’t blame you.
But please understand I never thought it would come to this..
I have been out of work for almost ten years with mantel health problems and about a year ago i thought my health was good and believed i could start work soon, i planed to start my own roofing company and also wanted to start a website with a friend thinking i would make the money for the repayments i went out to borrow some money.
I was told that if i tell any one that i am not working they would not lend me any money. So yes I lied i said i was working and gave my mum and dads number and address saying i worked there and i took home a nice wage.
My first loan was from a supermarket in the high street, they gave me £10,000 unsecured loan. Then after that i got lots of offers for cards in the post, so i went for 2 and i got them for a total of £9,000 on the two cards, the cards were to cover the loan payments until I started to get my own money from work.
Now all of this and i am not working and on income support and have no way of paying them all back until i start work but i was ready!.
i started to get ready for work and to most of you that would mean getting dressed and start driving to work, but sadly for me after being out of work that long i had a lot to deal with, and still did not feel 100% well.
So as the weeks went on i sadly got a lot worse to a point were i was feeling as low and unwell as i were 10 years ago.
So now over the last year i have lived on the money paying peter to pay paul as they say. the cards paid the loan payments and bills got paid for some time, but now i have come to an end with no were to go.
i have been to see C.A.B and they told me to make small monthly token payments and that i should go bankrupt due to the stress and large lack of funds to ever pay these back. i have told them the truth of my lies to get money but they said its the banks fault but i know its mostly my fault, but what i need is help and advice.
What shall i do now? Please there are two things I need to know 1.can i or will i do time for these crimes 2.if i were to go bankrupt would these debt still be wiped.
Please any help would be so welcomed, i just want a second chance and to get back to work with out all this guilt and debt over my head. i have two fantastic kids and i love them i just want to get back to building my life but i can never do this with this much debt total off £27000 what would you do?
Thanks and sorry for the long post
:hello:
Just wanted to say I really appreciated your honesty and respect that you admit responsibility for your own mistakes, despite the fact that C.A.B. advised you it was the bank’s fault.
I hope you get things sorted. Take care0 -
The OP is a criminal.
What exactly happened to the 27k? If it was to start a business which the OP never did surely he should still have the cash.
Or more likely its a sob story and the cash was spent on items nothing to do with a business or work.0 -
The OP is a criminal.. thanks i see why you may say that. but i am not telling a sob story but i really dont think people like you will see what people feel like me, but thanks any way..
before i took out any loans i was in just over £1500 debt with gas and water ect bills. so i paid them and then really just lived on the money when times were low and also paid one loan repayments with the other loan.
i know i have done wrong and i really would rather pay the money back but its going to take 20 years at this rate and that would leave my family nothing. i will sleep on it and let you all know the out come soon, so any more input would be grate.. and thanks for the kind words from others and yep i knew i had this in the wrong forum lol sorry.0 -
so you spent £25,500 on general living, no doubt whilst claiming the countless benefits you were entitled too!
No sympathy at all as you must have been living well in luxury.0
