How did you come to that conclusion given the information we have from the OP?!

    im a psychic!
no, really i worked it out for my car a while ago, and rather than write it all down i just offered my conclusion to save time. its only my opinion of course but the maths is so easy, the OP really should just sit with a calculator and do it themselves.

So basically, as I already own a car, and am paying for it in tax, i may as well ditch my car for a smaller engine and use that, to avoid the stress of the consistently late trains? Someone please say yes, its what i want to hear!!
No one can say yes or no.

You have to work it all out yourself.

For example when I choose which way I travel I look at the time it costs and ticket price, versus diesel and parking costs as I have the car already.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

ok thanks for the tips. I will try to sit down and figure it all out. Good points for both really. I like the car for the potential time saving factor, but i like the train to just relax a bit.
  • There's more to life than costs. Since I took to the car instead of the train I have not had a single cold in three years. Travelling in crowded trains is unhealthy.

It would be really helpful if OP could just detail their start and finish places then we could work it out
  • A ten-year-old car is not old.
  • My car is 10 years old and runs like a new car, this I put down to regular servicing and having things fixed before they totally fail.
