Hi,
I have purchased new electric cooker for my partner.
I bought it over phone from John L.
It was delivered at her address but bill came to my soon to be ex spouse address.
I was assured by shop assistant that bill and order will come to my partners address since i explained to her that credit card is still registerd at my previous address (soon to be ex spouse)
Now my soon to bre ex spouse knows where i stay from time to time and who is my new partner after making complaint John l offered me £10 that i did not accepted.
What shall i do since John L mistake costed me a lot of time hussle arguments whilst divorce proceeding were on .
Thanks

Have you established how/why this happened?0

What was your ex-spouse doing opening the bill anyway?0

If I am reading that right, You paid by a credit card that is still registered at your ex spouses address. Why would you expect John Lewis to send the bill anyway ? Surely the bill comes from your credit card company and would go to your registered address by default or have I totally misread that ?"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."
Bertrand Russell. British author, mathematician, & philosopher (1872 - 1970)0 -
thats an easy mistake to make and i wouldnt even call it a mistake, most shops specify goods over a certain value must be delivered to the registered cards address so you got it 1/2 your way, bargain!Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000
current savings: 20,500 (target hit yippee!)
Debts: 8000 (student loan so doesnt count)
new target savings by Feb 2010: 30,0000 -

What do you want JL to do - erase the memory of your soon-to-be ex?.
They have sent the invoice to the address to which the credit card is registered which is industry standard procedure - regardless of your verbal request, the computer will just churn it out and send it off. JL have offered a small token of apology - showing they understand the embarrasment that may have been caused, but they've done nothing wrong. They've not broken any data protection laws as you 'live' at the address they wrote to and they cannot be held liable for who opens your post.
What is suitable compo then?. £50, £500 or now that the ex knows where you live, do you want a new house?.
That's not meant to sound sarcastic, the reality is a mistake has been made, they've apologised and offered you some cash but they cannot be responsible for the reactions of your ex-wife, your current partner or any one of a million other factors in your life.
At a push, hold out for a few more quid, but cannot see any mileage in the matter other than pay cash until you've got your living arrangements properly sorted.Anger ruins joy, it steals the goodness of my mind. Forces me to say terrible things. Overcoming anger brings peace of mind, a mind without regret. If I overcome anger, I will be delightful and loved by everyone.0 -

Thanks ever so much for above I do appriciate your input, I am p**** of with JL them since they
re-assured me that nothing will go to ex address, broken promise and if they gave me a choice expaining
- things will go to her ( ex address) if you proceed purchase over the phone, or you can come and buy it here and arrange delivery in shop to avoid it -or shop somewhere else
they should say things openly so I can make choice ,instead they make promise wich is not true in order to make sale and I beliving them go for it.
JL never again0
