Just who do you think is going to be putting the mail through your door?
And how many letters have you sent successfully?
Finally, you would have been able to buy a train ticket direct under a nationalised railway service but when opened up to competition you have had to use two service providers. One of whom couldn't fulfill your journey. Totally S**t indeed.

One word of warning, Recorded would have been no good in this case as you could have only claimed £32 of loss. For valuable items always use special delivery and take out a sufficient amount of insurance.
ALways check the RM website to choose the correct way of sending your goods.

As I mentioned earlier, the OP couldn't have claimed anything, not even £32.
Royal Mail won't pay out compensation for tickets (as they are exchangable for goods or services) unless sent by Special Delivery.0 -

I agree the whole private railway thing is also crap, and that is really the main problem here, if I could have just bought tickets from one place then this problem would never even have arose, and had there been any problems I could have just handed them in at a ticket office instead of ringing for tickets and using credit cards with seperate companies etc.
But with Royal Mail, I have had misplaced so far a mortgage application, a bank account application and now these tickets.
The only reason that I know about these is because I was waiting on them, eg, the account opening, the mortgage decision etc., but normal mail that would have come to me or that I have sent I will never know about because I am not awaiting any responses from the recipient.
It seems to me that Royal Mail is concentrating on Loans, Phone services and all sorts of other things instead of what it originally was set up to be.
It used to be the envy of the world years ago, you could virtually guarantee that if you sent something first class that it would get there next day, now, who knows, How can we run any kind of economy when the basic infrastructure such as the post can not be relied on.
As far as how many letters have I sent successfully, well I don’t see what relevance that has on it, the facts speak for themselves, 3(that I know of) very important documents misplaced within the space of a year.
That would not be acceptable in any other service.
Can you imagine saying yes I have electricity in my home 90% of the time and I'm happy with that I'm not going to complain about it.Old pilots say "It is better to be down here Wishing you were up there, than up there wishing you were down here."0 -
Are you sure that RM never actually delivered the mail?? It could be that the letter was lost once it was delivered and was just filed in the bin so that they did not have to refund, it is all too easy for companies to blame RM saying they never got the letters.0

yeah good point actually, I hadn't thought of that, it is possible.
Boy can you imagine if they ever got caught doing that they would be in big trouble though.
It just shows up all the problems of this system, too many people/companies in the chain.
Anyway I have just put this down to experience now and accepted that I have lost the money.Old pilots say "It is better to be down here Wishing you were up there, than up there wishing you were down here."0
