Shoe dye

Can any of you recommend a good shoe dye? And how difficult it is to dye shoes? They're to match a bridesmaid dress (dark red) and I'm getting desperate as there's nothing in the shops in the right colour at the moment! Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

No idea about shoe dye, it seems you might be better off with a professional service. Do the shoes have to mathch the dress or can you go for a complimentary colour? Like an accessories colour? Maybe gold strappy or something like that? Although that may be a bit chilly on the feet, they can paint their nails red?0

Get them professionally dyed...
it's not super cheap but it's not extortionate either

If you're buying Rainbow shoes they dye them for you. When I was bridesmaid in the summer we sent off a swatch of the colour we needed with the shoes and they matched the colour perfectly. For the Rainbow Club shoes they charge £25 and you have to do it through a stockist (e.g. bridal shop or some John Lewis) however my shoes were the perfect colour and really well done. You can buy the slightly cheaper range of shoes (Rainbow Elise) which include free dying, however one of the girls did this and although the colour was perfect the dye job was patchy.0

The 'Pink' range of shoes by 'Paradox' can also be dyed at the time of purchase to any colour if you can supply a small piece of material & they do an excellent job.
When I sell a pair of their shoes I only charge the cost price of £12.00 for dyeing on top of the price of the shoe.
The dyeing takes 2 weeks or for an extra charge you can get them back in a week.
They also have a stock range of 20 colours which they dye to free of charge & at the moment they also will dye shoes black free of charge.
Everybody I have sold them to has been very pleased with the result.0 -
Have you considered a neutral shoe color? Gold, silver, or bronze can all be worn again and IMO matchy/ matchy is out.0

Wow, I thought people on here *might* be able to help - this is brilliant, thank you! I'll Google Paradox and Rainbow. Unfortunately the bride has decided that our shoes have to match our dresses, although the wraps/cardigans/shrug things will be a different colour to match hers. This is despite the fact that after hunting for 8 months, I can promise you that nowhere in Central London sells shoes in this colour... Bless her, she'd better only do this wedding business once!
My original plan was to dye a pair I already owned, I hadn't thought of getting the professionals to dye them. If it was up to me, I would be wearing this pair anyway as they will complement the wrap/shrug and given the length of the dresses no-one will be seeing them.
Thanks again!0 -
Oh dear. Have taken a look at both those websites and while they look fab, I just cannot afford to spend that sort of money. The entire wedding (including the hen do,accommodation, present, etc) is already going to cost me around £400 and I really can't stretch to £56 upwards for a pair of dyed shoes that I'll probably wear once. (In answer to the next question, the bride is paying for our dresses but we buy accessories.)
Any cheaper solutions? Anyone tried DIY dying?0 -
Not ever so MSE I know but you could get a pair of really really cheap shoes, and some dye and test it?Bump due 22nd September0

Try talking to the bride about this again. Our dresses were floor length and you could only see the very tip of the shoe. It was shame as my shoes were really pretty and had a lovely design but I don't think a single person saw them
Also IMO go for a shrug not a wrap! Wraps have to be held in place, shrugs you can put on and party :T0
