Right to Buy is ending in Scotland. How much longer before it ends in England?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/8312886.stmRENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

You then as a Leaseholder have to pay money each month to the council for cutting of grass and any works they do. Costs a fortune, I personally am paying more to the council each month than I am on the mortgage.
i havent time to re read the post again but as far as i remember the OP is in a council house, therefor he would not be a leaseholder and would not have services to pay for, (except for council tax of course.) if this is the case.
 The OP inherited a flat.
The OP is in a council property, the previous advice to mine was telling OP to BUY her council flat. That is why I gave the advice I did. As once she bought her council property OP would be a Leaseholder. Even if OP bought the freehold from the council they still charge estate services etc.0
