Rest Assured Mattress

  • I had the dreaded Silentnight mattress too. To add insult to injury it was the most expensive one. On top of a slatted wooden framed bed me and OH could barely walk in the morning. And, no, nothing to do with nocturnal activities!!
Last week OH came downstairs and said 'Buy a bed NOW'. Thanks to MSE I was armed with all the info I needed. I discounted memory foam because OH is hot all the time. I knew (courtesy of Tim) that I needed 1000 springs and they should be pocket sprung. I also knew I wanted a sprung top rather than a platform one. When I phoned the man in the bed shop I knew nearly as much as him!
This is the one I went for because a) it was the one I wanted and b) it was the cheapest one I found.
    I also blagged free delivery!

I went for the king size with four drawers.
    Bliss!

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
I did a lot of reasearch looking for a new mattress and settled for a Millbrook allure mattress - had it a month now and have been getting quality sleep really like it. Did find it too hot at first but am fine now - got a mattress protector with coolmax - seemed to help with getting hot or I got use to it - still using a 4 tog summer duvet in Nov!

I went to a small family run store and got very good service.

I liked the sound of the La Romantica Venice too but really liked the Millbrook.

number of springs, type of springs, materials, latex, super soft latex, memory foam, lambs wool, firmness, ortho, firm, firm feeling, name, luxury, deluxe. and price of course. I've found 2000 spring matress at £175, and 1000 springs at over £1000. All the mattress sellers have their own outer fabric and button patterns, and of course different names. It is impossible to compare anything in the mattress world, and even when you do pick one, you can't see inside, so you could actually have been sold anything. What a bunch of crooks.

That is the problem, you really don't know exactly what is inside them. This is why some of the big chain stores only display a very basic spec, and then they can try and convince you that it is the equivalent to a far higher spec mattress, when it isn't.

I have an advantage because I know the trade.
  • I have heard of that brand and by all accounts they are quite good.

I have used http://www.bltbeds.co.uk/ and http://www.mattressesworld.co.uk/ for stuff like.

Always good to price check though.

Just remember to make sure you buy from a seller with a satisfaction guarantee. Then it is in their interest to make sure that you make the right choice the first time.
