Daft question? Washing machine ...

We have a washing machine that is connected and fills from both hot and cold pipes.
We currently only have cold water (in the middle of new heating being installed).
Can I run the washing machine? Or will something bad happen because there is no water in the hot pipe? (we should have hot water again tomorrow and I could wait ... but it would be really helpful if I could use the machine tonight).

At one time you could get a Y shaped connector, to use these machines from cold only. I'd wait till tomorrow. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

IF you have a Y connector (most machines were supplied with them), then use that and run it. Othewise , no.0

Blast ... two responses which even out the votes again!
Nope, we don't have any y connector ... the machine was here when we moved in a few weeks ago.
So, those that say no (without y connector) what would happen if I ran it as is?

Run it on a hot/normal wash. The hot feed is only really used for the hottest programs. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

I have both pipes and looking at the cost of running i have opted just to use the cold. Most machines now only come cold fill anyway. Maybe you might decide to keep it that way too.0

My ma inadvertantly ran her machine on cold only for a few weeks, didn't seem to cause any problems although the wash wasn't as clean as it might have been..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
