Forcing Hyacinths - Too late for Christmas?

Hi everyone,
I've delayed and delayed in buying some hyacinth bulbs to plant and force indoors to give as Christmas presents. My question is: have I delayed to long for Christmas? They don't have to have flowers, but will there be enough growth in 4-5 weeks to show the recipient they're at least growing?! No point giving anyone a pot with soil in really!!
Thanks for any comments.
