Hi
We are looking to try and give our children extra help at home with Maths and English. We are looking into Kumon but feel with the right materials and organisation we can be just as effective (amd more MSE!).
I have been looking on Amazon and have come away feeling a bit dizzy from all the software that is on offer, we have used Education City online - both bored of that now - Greyolltwit which is okay at times and the occasional workbook.
Ideally we would like a programme we can work through with them (they will be Yr 1 and Yr 3 in September) so we have a goal and to stop us getting too lazy!
Does anyone have any suggestions for good systems/software/ etc etc
Thanks in advance

The BBC website has some excellent resources which support the National Curricullum and are linked to the relevant key stage. They have interactive computer based things, printable worksheets or you could take elements from the curricullum and explore these yourself in a more interesting and memorable way e.g geography - then a field trip to the seaside where you find and categorise shells. My son is in reception and I printed the CBeebies springwatch membership off for him and the things to spot - so when we went to the park with his binoculars he spotted things, then marked them off and put little comments next to them. When we came home he went on the website and ticked off what he had spotted and I printed his certificate. TBH we look at the things in the park anyway the only difference was the membership thing which he loved.
Personally I wouldn't pay for extra anything as there is some out there for free. The National Curricullum website has links to areas covered in various subjects. I would aim to expand and support what they learn in school rather than additional stuff.
