Selling old computer components - best option

I need to sell my old desktop components so i can get rid of it.
I was thinking of putting up the parts, motherboard, fan, RAM etc. on Ebay, but are there any other methods of selling i could consider? SD RAM goes for practically nothing on Ebay, but when i required to buy more SD RAM a few months ago at a local computer shop they quoted £40 as they don't make it anymore!!
It is worth calling up local shops and asking whether they might to buy
these components?
Also, what components exactly make up a PC?
Motherboard
Fan
Network card or graphics card?
RAM
Hard Drive (which i'll just make my external HD for my laptop)
CD and DVD Drive (but it doesn't work properly)
The monitor is very old and nowadays people buy flat screen monitors so it is even worth trying to sell it?
Anything else i'm forgetting?
Thanks very much.

Only 1 thing worth selling there is r.a.m.
Rest is pointless as once you've paid p&p and sale price, it's easier to buy new and have a guarantee.0 -
thanks - if its not worth selling the stuff - i might as well bin the computer and have some space in my room - there isn't any way of recycling old computers is there?
i know my uni threw away loads of old ones recently, so i guess i might just do the same.
i know theres freecycle but it doesn't work very well so wouldn't want someone to end up with a knackered computer.0 -
Dont bin stuff try https://www.freecycle.org
Just tell them the working order, or strip and sell the parts.0 -
I usually price my time versus expected revenue and decide that it really is not worthwhile (both from time and hassle) to put old computers and bits onto eBay). You could give it to some charities or if you know a local neighbourhood kid who hasn't got a computer then give it to him/her
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0
