IKEA kitchen doors - which are more durable?

Hi, we changed our kitchen about 4 years ago and bought the Stat doors which we were really pleased with. However, we have found that the painted finish is not very durable - water splashes have caused the paint to crack and peel and we are now having to replace the doors.
We've decided for a change of colour scheme and have been looking at the Adel birch doors. If you have these doors how durable have you found them? Or have you found any of the other doors particularly durable? Any help greatly appreciated!
Thank you

Hi,
I fitted ours about 3 years ago with a high gloss IKEA door... ABSTRAKT i think it was called. They now do this is black, burgundy and grey I think.
It's been really good, splashes wipe off.. cleans up a treat.
Personally I'm not a big fan of wood in kitchens, even if lacquered etc... you never see it in professional kitchens!
Good luck whatever you go with0 -
Mallymal it's good to know the Abstrakt is wearing well, how do you find the cabinets, drawers etc. I'm in the market for a new kitchen and seriously considering Ikea due to their unbeatable no-nonsense prices. I'm in two minds about wood worktops though, especially around the sink area, any advice would be appreciated.0

we have them although only have had them for 5 months. There wearing well even with 2 children playing with them. I love my ikea kitchen!Mad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!
Aiming to loose 56 pounds this year. Total to date 44.5 pounds 12.5 to go. Slimming World Rocks!0 -
Abstrakt in black, red & white in my last 3 kitchens.
Red now showing light scratches (3+ years on) where girls & long nails open doors, but nothing to really worry about!
What you do need to do, once fitted, is THEN remove the plastic film, covering the surfaces & wash with soapy water. The instructions tell you to do this, as it helps cure & harden the finish.

I have Ikea units in a light wood, forget what it's called maybe birch.
Willbe about four yrs old than and looks brand new.
Got a cream sink though and that's very badly stained, you just can't clean it. It's a sort of plastic / fibreglass thing, i'm going to swop it for a stainless steel one.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

I have the Ulriksdal oak doors and we've had it two years and it's like new. I got granite worktops from a local supplier and bought my appliance online. You can take the doors off to clean if you want to. I never have. I love my kitchen and have lots of in unit space savers from the rationale range which again were very cheap compared to other kitchens.GC Jan £318/£350, Feb £221.84/£300, Mar £200.00/£250 Apr £201.05/£200 May £199.61/£200 June £17.25/£200

I've installed 3 good sized ikea kitchens.
1) Adel birch - installed june 07 - still looks like new.
2) Stat white - installed Sept 07 - had to replace 3 doors in August this year as paint was flaking. 2 doors under sink and one next to it - almost definately water related.
3) Adel white - installed march 09 - still ok so far but not enough time to tell really.
Also installed a small utility room with Abstract White way back in 2004 - and its still fine.0 -
We have the Abstrakt white in our kitchen. It's been in for about 7 years now and still polishes up nice and shiny. The only problem I've had is with the doors under the sink. When DS1 does the dishes he gets water everywhere. Drips have gone down the work surface and under, onto the top of the door then not been noticed for ages. This has caused slight damage at the top of the door, but isn't noticeable unless the door is open- even then you'd have to look for it. I imagine this would happen with any flatpack kitchen cupboard door though.
Cabinets, drawers etc are still working really smoothly/holding up well. I would buy this again. I like that I can change the doors easily too if I want a change of colour or style.
It's only a game

I had a new kitchen put in 2 months ago, Abstrakt white gloss. I was worried about the gloss finish but it seems fine so far. Previously I had one of their cheaper more matt ranges and could scrub and bleach happily, it lasted over 10 years.
I also went for oak worktops - not Ikea own- and they are much more resilient than I had thought.I used Osmo wood products to seal and wax and it looks great. A friend has a butler sink and oak work top and she has used oil....no problems even round the sink for her.0
