Keep cutting and keep leaves off. Cutting will thicken up as it encourages side shoots, leaves will suffocate it. The chickens will dig it up, so keep them off. Limited growth this time of year, but still some growth depending upon your location.0

The best thing to do with chickens and grass, is little and often. Really, they should be moved to a new patch every day and the spots rotated so they are off them as long as possible,
That's in a perfect world, I like my chickens to have more space than this would allow, so they do tend to make a big mess for a while in an area, then get moved to a new one.
They always will desire fresh greens though, mine go bonkers if there is nothing fresh left for them to eat in the run and start escaping all over the place
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0
