Hello there techies!

I have a Dell Inspiron 5150 with a NEC ND-6100A DVD RW which I have used loads and worked fine.

Yesterday, when I was burning some avi files with Nero into a DVD, the process halted at 17% and got blocked there. After a while a got the Blue screen of death so had to reboot the computer.

When I restarted it, tried to burn the files again and once more the process got blocked before completion, at around 50% this time. I aborted the burning to avoid the blue screen, but now it seems that I cannot burn any more!!

I tried updating the drives for the NEC drive from the DELL homepage but that didn't help. Please help!! Did my drive pack up and needs a replacement?? I used it quite a bit but not enormously and Nec is supposed to be reliable.

Anything else I can try before taking the laptop to the repair shop? Anyone around with a similar problem??

Thanks!

Update nero. Download the latest pack that fits your registration.

    Uninstall the previous version first.

I think you may find it is over run error. To avoid this copy at a slower speed, OK it takes a lttle longer, but saves wasted disks
