Help with a letter from my (apartments) management company

Hi guys
I was wondering if any one could give me some advice on how to proceed with a letter i have received from my management company.
I rent a flat in a small block of apartments and have lived here on my own for 12 months with no problems.
In September the flat above me was re let out and since then there have been nothing but problems - music till early hours of the morning at the weekends etc and stomping about, doors slamming. I bear the brunt of it more than anyone in the block as i am directly below and when they are playing their music it emanates into every room of my apartment so there is no getting away from it.
I haven't complained about it to anyone as i'm currently working long hours (lots of overtime) and have been really busy lately with one thing and another so i just haven't got round to it. The flats in the block are not numbered and i get on well with the few people i see in passing.
Anyway today I get home and find a letter addressed to me telling me that there have been complaints made about me and the amount of noise coming from my flat !!! Horrified is an understatement about how i felt when i read the letter.
There are a few things in the letter which make me think it is a mistake.
1. Mentions noise being transfered by wooden flooring - i dont have wooden flooring my apartment is carpeted throughout apart from the kitchen which is lino. I know the flat where the noise is actually coming from has wooden flooring as i helped the previous tenant carry a box up to their flat one day.
I just dont know what to do, i'm quite stressed out about it as i am worried that my neighbours think it is me when its not i am suffering just as much as them.
Im worried a copy of the letter will have been sent to my landlord and what he will think as i want to stay in the property long term
I am going to ring them first thing tomorrow but i want them to apologise for this. Obviously i'm not going to shout and ball on the phone to them but i want them to know that they have caused me a sleepless night and that i am not happy.
Do you think a phone call is enough or should i put my feelins in a letter too. Should i mention it to my landlord.
This is just stress i could do without at the moment and any advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance

Just call them and tell them that they have got the wrong flat number and give them the right one!
Don't have a sleepless night - you know it's not you and your neighbours know it isn't you as well. Let your LL know that you've had the letter and that you've called the managing agent to give them the right flat number! Even if your LL does have a copy of the letter (which I doubt) then the wooden floor thing is going to back you up if there isn't any!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I agree with Doozergirl, this is a simple (but unpleasant) case of the letter being delivered to the wrong flat. Is the letter actually addressed to you by name? The management company would/ should not normally be writing to a rental tenant, they should be writing to the leaseholder or getting Environmental Health to deal with the perpetrator! I don't think a telephone call is the best course of action, you have been written to and should therefore write back.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Thank you for the posts
No the letter is addressed to the occupier not me by name.
I just feel very bitter about it as i have been kept awake till 4-5am when i am in work for 7am the next day ( i work overtime at the weekends) it just makes me feel a bit sick thinking about it.:j0 -

I agree with everything Doozergirl and Firefox said except: I'd do both! Phone them and explain and follow up to confirm in writing0 -
Thank you all
I think that is what i will do, i think for my own piece of mind i will have to call and speak to someone about it and like you said confirm it in writing.:j0 -
Environmental Health have ten times more 'teeth' than any management company as rental tenants don't have any legal relationship with them. Start a noise diary and try to persuade your neighbours to do the same.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
