Cheer me up

I made it up myself but I suspect I'm not the only one - I went to post it on the Football Fools board and someone had beaten me to it. It was a pretty obvious gag really.
I will ask you a question you being a referree and all, are the refs not allowed to ask a player if for example he handled the ball, if it is brought to their attention?. I think it may be surprising how many would own up if put on the spot (especially if they know it will be replayed in telly
). 'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
Of late, he's sounded more lovelorn than b1tchy.
Sounds more like Dan and his various multiple personas (ess0 - whatever he's called, chucky etc.

her internet "suitors" will pop in at some point to defend her actions though...
let me get this right... it starts a thread to ask people to cheer her up then starts to throw accusations about expecting nobody to respond... pathetic :rolleyes:0 -

There is nothing to prevent a referee from doing that however it goes against the current thinking and also the advice coming from FIFA about being seen to be in charge, selling decisions and generally about how to run a game.
FIFA want quick decisions, decisiveness and positive body language from officials to encourage compliance from players*. That doesn't really tally with asking a player whether he touched the ball or not. That would be seen as the ref losing control of the situation I think.
Fundamentally, the professional game has become big business and in the same way as companies will pollute a river if the fine costs less than cleaning up the process, the clubs expect players to do whatever is necessary to win a game if they are to be paid millions of pounds each year (this thing of £xx,xxx per week is just a con meant to put the players in some way on the same level as the ordinary working man).
It's a shame but it's the way that football has gone and for as long as a man can earn enough in a few years to keep his family in splendour for the rest of their lives by kicking a ball up and down a park for 3 hours a week, 40 weeks a year it'll stay that way.
*The gesture with palms down and pushing away from the body used by a lot of refs to mean 'calm down' is specifically guided against for example as it is seen as being conciliatory towards dissenting players. You're meant to hold your hand up like a traffic cop stopping a car at a set of broken traffic lights.0 -

If she winds you two up so much then why not put her on ignore? By ganging up on her like this you're just proving her point.
carolt has every right to post on this forum, whether you like what she posts or not. I personally believe that she's a bit 'edgy' and enjoys a good rumble so much that she'll actively seek one out, but she is also one of the few posters I follow on here (Bendix is another one). If I see either of their usernames as the most recent poster on a thread, I always click into it to see what's there. I think these boards would suffer if the likes of carolt, Bendix (and julieq too now that I think of it) stopped posting.
I refuse to apologise for being drawn to controversial posters.

no-one wound up here - just stated my point of view.Harry_Powell wrote: »If she winds you two up so much then why not put her on ignore? By ganging up on her like this you're just proving her point.
just because some one else has had a similar point of view and has stated it - where has ganging up taken place?
who said that she couldn't?Harry_Powell wrote: »carolt has every right to post on this forum, whether you like what she posts or not.
have i said that she shouldn't or that i i didn't like her posts?
i'm pretty sure that you didn't read my post...
surely i'm allowed to respond to a post that is directed at me.
she was indicating that i was a multi-user, which i obviously am not - i would have expected that due to the numerous mentions of you being Dithering Dad on this forum you would have see this as the weakest argument from people with zero credibilty.0 -

Good point chucky, my apologies. I seem to have the same weakness for answering back when people are obviously intent on trying to wind me up. All I'm doing is providing fun for them. I'll take my own advice and ignore them.
p.s. please ignore my little dig in another thread, it wasn't fair."I can hear you whisperin', children, so I know you're down there. I can feel myself gettin' awful mad. I'm out of patience, children. I'm coming to find you now." - Harry Powell, Night of the Hunter, 1955.0 -
