Wii BBC iplayer channel impressive

This went live today and I just tried it out by watching an hour long episode of James May's Toy Stories.

Excellent quality and no slow down even though it was peak time (roughly 18:30-19:30).

The BBC said the Wii would get an iplayer channel before Christmas and they delivered.

Great job BBC and Nintendo!

I think the speed would be down to your broadband connection rather than the wii, but it is good the wii has one now. I used to hate having to load the web browser to watch Iplayer on the tv.

Of course, PS3 got there first with the dedicated 'channel' but its layout is a tad clunky.
  • Set up the channel last night, only minor gripe is its tricky to move the viewing point back and forwards precisely with the hand cursor.
    Is there an easier way?

Iplayer isn't available on xbox yet, and i can't imagine using it with natal...would be too imprecise, i feel.

Indeed it would. I normally get a solid 2.4MBits from my ISP even at peak times due to being on a premium service. I was commenting more on the iplayer's end since I was expecting the BBC servers to struggle more. But it stayed smooth thoughout :)
