Backdated Jobseekers Allowance?

Hey there. I applied for joint jobseekers allowance with my partner on the 11th only to find a week later that somewhere between their office and the main office they have lost my paperwork and I now have to re-apply. Does anyone know if my jobseekers allowance will be backdated from my original date of application or if I lose out? Many thanks.

I had a similar problem. I applied online but the application got "lost" so I reapplied by phone.

There is a form to fill out - JSA5 - which you can get from the Jobcentre. They will consider your claim but are not guaranteed to pay, though I was told it was a strong case.

I have not actually got round to filling mine out yet so I can't tell you if it works.

I have an online reference to back up my claim though. Did you get a reference from the office?

Yes, if you can prove you applied earlier (like a reference, receipt etc) and have been looking/available for work (and can prove that too).

Did you do your claim on the phone through the contact centre if so then the claim should be still on the system and really if it was only on the 11th November then they can re print you the statement.
