effect of a claim on the insurance

currently I use natwest graduate insurance (think its a sunwise policy) that costs me £16 a month - £10k contents £1k pc and £500 for named items (watch etc given for 21;st bday)
I was mugged a few months ago, the little *** *** *** had my ipod and mobile phone
the ipod was replaced by giving me gift vouchers for dixons (I was offered a new one or vouchers, I took the vouchers as didnt want to get any portable mp3 player again) and my phone (initally claimed for the phone, but after speaking to orange i got a contract upgrade for a better phone and better package - so i canceled the claim on the phone)
am I going to see a big increase in my premiums come july (when its up for renewal) and will having made a claim affect the quotes from other companies, living in the LS6 postcode area doesnt really do me any favours either!

You will lose any NCD bonus you had (though it is no way as big a discount as you get for motor and not all insurers even give them) plus will almost certainly see your premiums being loaded - you could always do a quote online and see what the price difference is between your premium would be if you remained claim free and what it is now you have made the claim but remember a lot of insurers give you a discount in year one and another for buying online so you need to look more at the difference than at the actual premiumsAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers
