You know when you do a google search, say on 'Dog Training' and you get pages of sites ........... what determines the order of the 'hits' ie what puts one at 1 on page 1 and another number 112 on page 43? I assume it the number of 'hits' they've had? Or is it date order?
If it's number of hits, does anyone know a computer programme that I could use/set up to bump up the hits on a particular website?

It's not page rank. It's determined by search engine optimisation, which is a wonderful phrase which covers a whole raft of stuff.
I did type a long list but it went!!
Google SEO, and loose your life to it.0

No paid for service can accurately "bump" up the Google rankings, and soon as Google suspects you doing this with your site, it'll remove you from the listing.
There are plenty of companies which will optimise your site (search engine optimisation) and the entry, but this is very different to trying to trick Google into bumping your site.
Visiting your site from a browser, once or a million times, makes no difference to Google.
The best way to appear high or near the top is have a long establish site, with correct keywords, which is, crucially, regularly updated.
I've had a site since 1994 and one of mine is always at the top of the list for a set of search terms!0
