Storage Heaters?

In the middle of the night last night I was pondering round the house with poorly child syndrome and I thought it was a tad warm in my room. I turned the thermostat up on the heater in my room and as it clicked past the ambient temperature, I thought that it flashed (it was dark) so I turned it back down and then turned it up again and it did it again??? Has anyone ever noticed this? Is this normal?

Hi,
I have never seen it myself, but I'm not surprised there was a flash.
It must have been very late, with the economy 7 power on. When you altered the input control, the heater turned on. Inside the heater is a device rather like an old fashioned car contact breaker (well it is inside my storage heater), the flash will probably have come from that making contact. I very much doubt that it is anything to worry about.0
