House of My Dreams

Ok - One of the reasons I get so down about money is that I have a real keep up with the Jones' mentality and often feel like the one who has nothing. (Sob Sob). So have decided as the sun is shining and I cannot afford to move to a new dream, clean, sparkling house, that I shall just have to make do with what I have got.

Today I blitzed the place, spring cleaned the fridge, washed the paintwork, tidied up the clutter and to my pleasant surprise, it's not so bad after all. Maybe I won't need to move to a better house , just remember to clean this one more often!! Mind you, still don't get what the fuss about Stardrops is all about - they are way too bubbly for me.

Money not spent today - approx 100,000 in additonal mortgage and 10,00 in stamp duty, not to mention fees etc.

    Well done Violet

Whenever we have put a house on the market and done all the little niggly jobs that we never got around to, tidied all the clutter away, and touched up the decorating, we've wondered why we wanted to move in the first place.

I think you've definitely saved loads of money today.

Well done, my house is crying out for a spring clean.

With Stardrops I've found I don't need very much before it gets rather bubbly and we're in a very hard water area. Maybe use less? A little really does go along way (especially if you don't spring clean very often like me!)

Beanielou - Wilko's is best value I've found around here at 57p a bottle. Sainsburys sell it but 79p a bottle and Tesco's don't seem to sell it at all! Micro fibre cloths were pretty elusive for a while here, but Tesco's came up trumps with the value pack of 3 for 99p, and Wilko's do a multi-coloured pack of 3 (larger size too) for £1.39.

Those cloths and Stardrops go together like....bread and butter I guess!

Yeah I'd say use less of the Stardrops. You literally need just a few drops.

Well done though on your "new found house" :T :j

If you can stretch to some brightly coloured flowers and some incense sticks as well (if you haven't got them already) then these really help as well.

I get my incense sticks from Discount Warehouse - £1 for a tube of 40!

I haven't tried this Stardrops stuff yet as I'm still using old stock from my old shopping days!

Well done for giving the house such a good spring clean- I did mine a couple of weeks ago for a remortgage valuation and fell in love with the house all over again (although a few more rooms,a garage, a new kitchen and an en-suite wouldn't go amiss...)

Stardrops is yellow but in a clear bottle. Somewhat bigger but same (ish) shape as a bottle of Fairy Liquid. White flip top spout.

Label has a star on it surprisingly! :D;)

Keep your eyes open, you'll stumble over some sooner or later!

Look for the thread by SouthernScouser called something like "Debt Free Wannabee Nerds...How Rude!" - and enter a post on that thread. He will then issue you with a number!
