Capped Tarrif ends 31 December...what now

Im with British Gas for my Electric and gas. Currently on the price protection December 2009. Called em up and they say mid december they will post me out what my new tarriff will be if i stay but i was on the Scottish power site and one of the tarriffs looked good. Well they called me a week later and said i should transfer over now as it will take 4-6 weeks to transfer over and their tarriff will be best.
What do i do? Wait n see until mid december then choose or just move now?
Thing is if i wait i will then be on a higher tarriff for a few weeks until i opt to switch providers....follow me?
