BT Bill help

Hi there,

Just looking for some help with my BT bill to make sure I have all the facts before calling them up.

I signed up on the 9th July (connected 12th July) and asked for the evenings and weekends plan (12 months), paperless billing and to pay monthly by direct debit so that my monthly bill would be £11.25 per month.

Simple you would think, but no, they put me on the weekend plan with paper billing and no payment method setup. I called and got through to someone who was pretty usefull and he switched it over to evenings and weekends/paperless billing/monthly direct debit.

But...(and this is where the question is) on my bill they have charged me £2.94 for 1571 on the 14th July and then on the 15th July changed me over to the evenings and weekend plan.

From what I can see, they've charged me for the 1571 low usage for the 3days I was on the weekend plan - but I didnt ask to be on that plan in the first place, so shouldnt have had 1571 and therefore shouldnt be charged for low usage?

Just wanted to check I was correct before phoning them up?

For the november bill, they havent detailed a 1571 low usage - does this mean it isnt active on the evening & weekend plan? Or should I still request to cancel 1571 so I dont get charged for it in future?

Cheers,
Ben

£2.94 is the charge for 1571 for 3 months (it's £1 per month).

    However, please dump it!

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    Thanks for the quick reply!

I'd read a few various posts from you regarding the 1571, which explain why BT charge for it. (which I didnt know, so thanks:beer:)

but I wasnt sure if I should have been charged because the evening & weekends plan doesnt have 1571 active as standard?

Anywho, spoke to BT and they're going to refund the £2.94 :T

...and also refund £3.75 for paperless billing for 3months they hadnt taken it off :T

I also had the guy double check that 1571 wasnt active on my line :D

BT get plenty of stick, but to be fair the guy on the phone was friendly and the whole call only lasted under 2mins!

You can check for yourself too - just dial 1571 and, if it's not active, you'll hear a message to that effect.

Anyway, it's not a question of 1571 being part of any calls plan(s), it's active if you switch it on - and it's then the need to make at least 2 chargeable or inclusive calls per month via BT kicks in.

i wish you all the best with getting the understanding you reached over the telephone with a BT csr translated into reality, I don't know what kind of systems they have there which mean that agreements you make over the phone don't get actioned, but suffice it to say I am now only prepared to deal with BT in writing!

Good luck - hope it works out for you better than it did for me.
