Hi all,
First of all thanks in advance for any advice, secondly sorry for the bad picture
http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/6917/layoutdx.jpg
The linked picture is my front room
the black line is my doorway leading to my Hall.
the green line is a glass door leading to my rear garden.
the red mark is the proposed site of a new door leading to my kitchen.
I wish to block up the current black door way and put in the red doorway.
This will mean to get to my living room i have to come through the kitchen.
Now where i live i have seen on rightmove many many houses that have done this but i was wondering are there any laws etc that stop u having your exit from a room near another exit especially when leading to a kitchen (fire hazard)
There is a very large window at the left hand side of the room so that could offer an exit but i was just wondering if i am breaking any rules/regs by doing this.
Thanks in advance for any help.

The orginal post in this thread has a very very slim chance of being about money saving. The post is more than likely to ask a question that google could answer better than any of us.

Hello,
I'd be interested in some info regarding this too if anyone knows what the building regs etc are.
As in your pic I would like to move my internal (non-supporting wall) doorway from the left to the right (like your black to red doorway) - this doorway goes from my kitchen to the living room, and the green door (as in your picture) is actually my front door. So I wouldnt be changing the structure too much, just literally moving the doorway along the wall.
I was under the impression that house dont require warrants etc (so long as its internal wall) but flats might do. Mine is a flat, but not a tennement as such, only one flat below me and one flat to left of me.
Thanks :-D0
