I am thinking of buying a 2005 Mondeo 2.0TDCi Hatchback from Motorpoint for £8499 which is way cheaper than any other dealer. They say it comes with the balance of the Ford 3 year warranty, so It seems like I can't lose.......!

Does anyone know any different, or has anyone had good experiences with this company?

It might be cheap, but it's a lot of dosh, so any advice would be appreciated.

Motorpoint centres I believe usually deal with parallel imports.

Cars bought at UK spec from dealers in Europe.

These cars are of the same quality and spec etc as the UK officially bought models and offer substantial savings.

I bought a Ford SportKA from my local Ford delaer who also has a branch on the Isle of Man so they register the cars over their and then bring them over to the UK.

The v5 document for my car said, "imported - declared new in 2003".

This may put future buyers off slightly but the car was recently crashed into and written off. The Insurance company paid up full UK retail value for it though so it was no difference for them.

Ask the directly about the car and its origin and have a search around the internet for some more details on the pros and cons.

Hi, we bought our current car from them, on the strength of 3 work collegues opinion.

We found them to be really good. We didn't see the vehicle before purchasing it, though you can do this if you want.

I would certainly use them again.

I went ahead and did it anyway. Got a great deal on the car I wanted, despite not seeing it! Their offer for my P/Ex was pants, but to be fair they don't want the hassle. I sold it privately for £550 more than Motorpoint offered. Arranged to collect the car at 10am today, and it was ready when I arrived. They let me have a good look first and no obvious problems. It was dirty inside and out, but I hadn't paid for a valet so expected nothing else. Their bloke had a final crack at selling me all sorts of insurances and warranties which I refused and the deal was done. The only disappointment was that they hadn't got the spare key, service book and manuals - they said these would be posted because the car had sold sold so quickly the documents etc hadn't caught up. I'll wait and see but will kick up stink if I have to. On getting the car home,I gave it a valet (£62 saved) and was extremely pleased with the condition of the bodywork and interior. The journey from Derby to Northampton was great and I am very pleased with the car and (so far) Motorpoint.

    Hi,

We also drove up from Northamptonshire! Also ours didn't have the spare keys, manual or service book - however they did all follow within about 10 days. Very pleased with the car still, and service was great.
