'Evidence of Movement' on house survey- help?

Hi all,

We are in the process of buying out first home...

Surveyor provided a valuation report to the mortgage lenders and on it it said there was 'evidence of movement' to the property. However, said it was not ground-related (which I understand is good?). It said further movement would be acceptable, but did not state what the probable cause of this movement is. He also added in the commnets "there is evidence of slight settlement in and around 1 or 2 window openings but not such as to cause major concerns". Of course, i am concerned and have visions of the house coming apart!

The homebuyers report we had done at the same time has not yet arrived and am not sure if that will give me more details on this anyway.

Should I be worried? YOur thoughts/advice would be much appreciated. Thanks :o

  • If the surveyor says further movement is acceptable and that there's nothing to be worried about, I'd take that as enough to sleep soundly at night in the property.

    Bear in mind he'll be covering his own backside by reporting everything obvious so it strikes me that he's saying, "Look, there's a bit of perfectly normal movement here that I'm obliged to report on but it's not something to panic about."

    Thank you ADSrox0r for responding. As I am completely new to house buying so i was worried at the thought of a house moving enough so it shows and without there being a reason for it!

    I will await homebuyers report to see what else comes up....:rolleyes:
