Long ago we used to treat unused barbie sausages and burgers like meatballs in a sauce made of tomatoes etc...and freeze that. They marinade nicely and tase really nice compared to most meatballs.

The one that always amazes me is the shampoo bottle that says "rinse & repeat", if you need to wash twice either your hair is really dirty or the shampoo isn't good enough.

I once had a bottle of two-in-one shampoo/conditioner that said that. Okay, so it was back in the days when two-in-one was a new thing, and maybe they just hadn't thought it through, but even so...!

I am the just about on the right side of 30 and I know its ok to freeze cooked meat.
Today for example I have some nice beef stewing steak. I defrosted it last night, this morning i flung in slowcoker with veg, gravy etc and its stew for tea tonight. there is a good 8-10 portions in there if i have doughballs too so leftovers will be cooled then frozen for meals well into December.

I don't know the answer because there's never been any leftover meat at a barbecue I have attended.
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

Quite! Strangely enough although I love a good T bone (I actually grew up in a meat eaters Paradise - Rhodesia) my favourite bit of meat to braai is actualy a nice bit of mutton!

The culture of BBQ'ing is very different in this country it appears. Every BBQ I have been to I have ended up doing most of the cooking whilst most of the other men present have tried to avoid it at all costs. In fact my mates wife said to me last weekend "I am so glad you are here otherwise I was going to have to do the BBQ on my own." :D

Yes we do mutton in potjie - there is just something about it - oxtail also :T (for the other posters - potjie is a stew made over the fire in a cast iron pot - it cooks for hours and is soooo good!) Being female, if I had to do a braai I would never live it down - coz it would never be right lol..... I'll stick to making salads ;)

For my 30th birthday (many moons ago!) some friends threw a party for me. As we are vegetarian we organised ourselves a veggie potjie, whilst they made a meat one (along with all the usual braai stuff!) When it came to eating I ended up not having any potjie because it was snaffled by the meat-eaters .

We went back to SA for 3 weeks in the summer, and I bought two 1/4 size potjies to use as ornaments :D

I think it's about time Schools introduced some lessons about the basics, home management, cooking etc so kids aren't totally ignorant of these things when they leave. My home economics was a waste of time and I wish now I'd had lessons in mortgages, money managementv etc.
Why on earth would anyone think you can't freeze cooked meat?! Do they not realise that most of the stuff in a ready meal is already part cooked or in fact cooked?

totally agree bring back good old fashioned home economics, with home management thrown in, DD was shown how to make a pizza using french loaf and thinks tuna pasta is making something from scratch, (she's learning quick tho!) as for throwing out the burgers etc have they never made a casserole or such likes and had any left over and bunged it in the freezer? - obviously more money than sense!!
