Pre-pay/ Credit card just for petrol?
Hello
OH and I are in a bit of disagreement about how to pay our petrol bills. But I won't go into it too much. We basically want to be able to pay for petrol from our joint money but want it so that ONLY petrol can be purchased with the credit card/ fuel card. This is because of a few disagreements about where money has been spent. lately.
I know large companies can use a fuel card and the employees can pay only for fuel with them in certain petrol stations, but is there a similar option for individuals too?
Can anybody help please?

if you cant trust yourselves or each other then keeping receipts for every fuel purchase would be best, but in the long run i think i would just split up....work permit granted!0

Oh dear. I do see your point but the thing is I hardly need to drive and he drives about 80 miles per day for work. We put all our money together and then divide what's left for ourselves. The joint account for bills doesn't have debit cards with it. It seems unfair that his huge fuel bill comes out of his 'own' money when I don't have any travel expenses at the moment, so thought if we could get a card to cover his petrol costs then we could pay them monthly out of the joint funds. Plus, if he gets let loose with an actual credit card, then it probably will be split up...0

We run a single van at work and have a fuel card, can't see why you wouldn't be able to get one.0

Why not get a credit card each that you agree with each other will only be used for fuel.
Unless your you & your partner likes to spend a small fortune at fuel filling stations on things other than fuel, then it should be quite easy to see whether the money money was spent on fuel or not from the credit card statements.
Cashback credit cards, or specific credit cards that give money off fuel at particular filling stations (e.g. Asda) would mean you could save a bit too

Some companies ask for a £2,000 deposit on a fuel card.0

How about paying for the purchase with a prepaid "credit" card, that way you cant spend what you havent got and some unscrupulous petrol garages cant clone your card and scam you out of your moneyAnd yes the lady in the avatar is me
