beware of sub prime lenders and mortgage brookers

If you knew the way SPML had behaved you might think differently. If they had issued sensible instructions to solitors then this could have been avoided. To allow the the identity of the morgage applicants to be verified without any photo ID is clearly wrong.
Also SPML are claiming over £50,000 in expenses, is that fair?
Also for your information the Crown Prossecution Service decided to drop any action d0 -
The financial ombudsman can't persue the brokers as they are in liquidation, sore blow or what!0

Jeff,
It intially appears you have been well and truly stuffed, but I cant help thinking something doesnt sound right about all this....why have SPML NOT repo'd the property? Where is the wife, the broker and the solicitor? how much was the fraudulent amount borrowed? When did these mortgage complete? was it before October 2004?I am a Mortgage Adviser

This is a very long and complex story.
In fact two fraudulent mortgages were arranged. The first one was with the I Group and then with SPML.
The solicitor was appointed by the mortgage broker and I suspect was in league with solicitor.
The broker arranged a stand in to impersonate me and the sinature did not look anything like my own and he was a good deal younger than me.
At SPML's insistance I had to employ a handwriting expert to back up my claim.
At the time the Court issued the order I was unaware of any proceedings and therefore the Court was unaware of the fraud.
It was not until the Court baliff arrived to evict me that I was aware of any mortgage with SPML.
I have been fighting this case for three years and due to SPML's actions I have been made a bankrupt.
You might find this story hard to believe but it is true.
If you would like to full details then let me have an email address and you can have the full details.
I seem to be the easy target to recoupe the money.
I employed a solicior to fight my cause and he sat on his hands for six months, a big mistake on my part and never again.
Jeff
Can i suggest that this should be made aware in a wider arena-
I would suggest this would be headline stuff in the money sections of the national daily papers so why not get them to publish it????I am a fee charging WoM Mortgage broker.I now no longer give information and opinion within the Mortgage boards, because a number of posters who, having approached me professionally, agreed my fee-which has been been made very clear at the outset, taken my advice (normally cancelling a [home visit] meeting at short notice) have then approached one of the fee-free brokers on here to arrange the very same deal I have advised.Whilst I totally concur with the ethos of "money saving"- abusing the goodwill of a professional who provides a quality service is taking it too far! :mad:0 -
My wifes reason for doing this was to fund a her business that was failing. She hoped that the business would recover and all would be well.0

Hi ya
I agree this sounds really strange.
What did your wife do with the money that came from the mortgage then? When you bought the house, did you have the cash, i.e. did you think you were paying for it outright? I'm presuming you must have [thought you] had the cash, otherwise you would have had to get a mortgage (and hence you would have queried this at the time)
So where did all the extra money go?
Where is your wife now?
Sorry if I'm completely missing the point here.....:rolleyes:0 -
Sorry ignore my post now as it's just crossed with yours.

Your suggestions are valid and I agree with your views and I am now trying to get this matter some publicity. Thanks for you suggestions and keep you eyes on the press.0
