  • Good afternoon,

Restarting this thread as i have worries on an identical subject with HBOS

I'm french citizen and will leave Scotland for france after 7 years of UK residency in 2 weeks.

I have several accounts with HBOS:
    Current account reward
    Cardcash
Cash ISA with quite a lot of monet
    IASA empty to be closed
    Share account.

I'm a bit worried of their reaction when i will announce them that i'm not going to be a UK resident anymore. I don't mind not being able to open new accounts but would like to know if they will just change my UK address for french one and that's it or if they will kick me out :-/... I really don't know what i would do in such case, 2 weeks seems a bit short to set up an offshore account and i don't really have any use for such an account. Just want to keep my savings in sterling till it's the good time to transfer everything in euro

If rt29781 or anyone with a similar experience can advise, it will be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Pierre

I would make sure that the ISA is not one which is going to end up with a rubbish rate, as you won't be able to open another ISA once you move abroad. Better to move it to a new provider now, whilst you are a UK resident, to someone whose rate will stay good for the duration.

Except that your ISA interest will presumably be taxable in France anyway ... so maybe no point being in an ISA at all!
