Tesco Direct - Someone else has signed for package.

Options
Hello there,

I ordered the new Call of Duty game from Tesco Direct back in August and was waiting for it to be delivered to my work address last week.

I waited for most of the week, phoning Tesco's each day asking them whether it had been delivered and was told each time that due to demands it might be delayed.

However, after phoning them on Thursday, I was told that the parcel had been delivered and signed for on Tuesday (day of release) by an employee.

After asking that employee at work the next day whether she had the package, she told me she didnt actually sign for anything and never has. I sent a company email out asking if anyone had the package and never got an answer so now the package is officially missing.

I was just wondering if I had any rights with either Tesco or my company. I've asked our human resources and security team and they basically said 'tough luck'. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Thanks in advance.

Yep - I'd ask for proof. I've been blamed twice at work for signing for a deliveries, when they hadn't even arrived!
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.
  • How did Tesco get the name of the employee (or how did you find out that a particular employee signed for it)? Is it possible that someone else has signed for the package in her name so covering themselves?
  • Its possible someone else may have signed her name (either that or shes lying and shes stolen the package but I don't want to jump to conclusions).
  • depends how far you want to push it but maybe worth having a chat with hr and saying if they can't/won't do anything ie review security tapes etc then you'll have no choice but to report it to the police as it's theft.

Agree with Blacksheep...it's not nice to think that you might be working with a thief. Was the item delivered by courier or Royal Mail and is it possible that if it is a regular postie, they might remember who signed for the parcel?
  • Its was by courier. I dont know whether its worth phoning Tesco's and asking them for a copy of the signature.

The reason I got blamed for taking deliveries that hadn't arrived, was because it was a courier that came regularly so they had my details from earlier deliveries. Apparently it was a mix up.

Might it have been a courier that goes to your work place regularly that Tesco used?

Make sure you get that proof. Get them to email you the signature for that parcel before you do anything.
