Does our Transit van have an immobiliser?!

Hi,

So I clearly don't know anything about immobilisers, but I'm renewing the insurance & want to save if I can.

It's a 1999 Ford Transit TD LWB, and has a flashing LED on the dashboard. Is that it?

Feeling particularly stupid...!
Thanks in advance!

Search for the exact model here:

    http://www.thatcham.org/abigrouprating/index.jsp?page=343&searchtype=lcv

If it shows 'T2' in the security column then it has a Thatcham Category 2 immobiliser.
  • Thanks for that! So it doesn't have a "Category 2" immobiliser. I wonder if it has another type...?

It may do but it's quite rare to find security discounts on Commercial Vehicle policies for non-Thatcham approved items.
  • Oh.

I was using gocompare.com and they have options for "manufacturer fitted" & "other alarm or immobiliser" as well as for "Thatcham" categories 1 & 2.

I guess it might not have saved much, but it'd be nice to save some more.
