How To Use Fragrance Oil?

May seem like a silly question:rolleyes:, but I have some little bottles of room fragrance oil that originally came with an oil burner that I no longer have.
I was just wondering if anyone could give me any idea's how to use them, other than buying another oil burner. I seem to think i could put a few drops on a cloth and put on the radiator but not sure if i got that right.
Any ideas would be gratefully received:j

Thank you...nice idea but in the interest of saving water, no longer have baths brimming with hot, bubbly, water. It's a quick shower for me and my bucket!
    And they call this progress!

Another tip, but you might think its CARP, I put a drop or 2 in the bin when I replace the bin bag on a piece of kitchen roll to stop the sometime horrid smells that start coming from it.

Not a great use, but a use.

    LOL, found this:http://www.desertdancer.net/51-Uses-for-Fragrance-Oils-p-100.html

  • To freshen up potpourri, use on a draw liner, on cotton bows to scent crimbo presents or you could put some on a cotton ball in your hover to fragrance the room.

As you said fragrance oil and not pure essential oil I would check to see if it is skin graded, it will tell you on the bottle if it's not suitable for this. If it is alright for the skin you can add it to lotions and potions.
  • Add a drop or two to the vinegar in the rinse of the washing machine. It makes the clothes smell lovely, and if you're having to dry washing indoors the room smells lovely too.

Don't quote me on this lol but I've heard that you can put a couple of small drops onto a lightbulb, then when the light is on and gets hot it gives off the scent.

I've heard of this before, but personally, I wouldn't put any oil on something breakable that's going to get hot.
Would that not be a fire risk:confused: I'm sure someone will come along and it's fine though.

  • Car air freshners are absorbent,(the hanging variety), when mine has lost its fragrance a few drops on on it and hey presto, a new car freshner.

if its essential oil then a few drops on blotting paper or any absorbent paper will release its fragrance if put on radiator. if it doesnt say essential oil on label - dont put it in bath or anywhere near body! its not pure and could be blended with cheap oils! you can revitalise pot pourri with a few drops of essential oil or make your own! many sites online on how to do this. personnally i love lavender oil - you can put a few drops on a tissue and tuck under pillow for restful night sleep or put into bath. and rose oil - oh wow - love this too - oh for carpet freshener cant be beaten - just mix a cup of salt - half cup or so of bicarbonate of soda and a few drops of rose oil (or any fragrance you really like) mix well and if you can leave in a lidded container for 24 hours to allow the fragrance to develop - i use an old oxy container) then sprinkle like shake and vac then five mins later vacuum up. lovely fragrant room!!! but you cant use the cheapy ones for this the oils leave marks!
  • Also you can put Tumbler drier fragrance sheets on radiators and they smell nice when they warm up too
