DVDYES.co.uk is a fake DVD site!!

Please everyone learn from my experience! This company claim to offer rare and hard to fnd DVDs; in fact they provide fake copies from Thailand! They used to trade as SnappyDVD.co.uk - funnily enough this site has shut down!

When I reported this to Trading Standards they explained that, because this site was not registered in a European Country there is nothing that can be done to bring them to book. However, if enough people who have been duped and who paid by PayPal complain to them, they will investigate - so please spread the word!

Another tip I have learnt from this is to check out any companies you have not previously ordered from the nominet company website WHOIS - this company would have shown me that DVDYES have only been registered since Aug 09 and are from Thailand!

All the OP was attempting to do is warn other 'naive' people not to purchase DVD's from the above website. She should not be insulted for that.

I am wise up to many scams etc and know most of the stuff that come from far East, are fakes, unfortunately they often dupe people by having a co.uk domian name making them appear legit.

Op at least was trying to warn others they didn't have too

Thank you CharlieBilly! Maybe I should have made it clearer in my original post that the company was passing itself off as UK based as I do know better than to knowingly buy from any Far East company. I hadn't had to worry about what the WHOIS website was until this happened!!

I am quite happy at being able to access imported copies of DVD's not available in the UK.

Thank you for your post. I nearly ordered £50 worth of Disney dvds, thinking they were legit! Funnily enough, something told me to invetigate further and i came across this forum and as they say, the rest is history! I have also added 'whois' to my favourites as i think it will come in very handy. Cheers :beer:
