PPI Company

Hi,

I was going to use a company such as canaryclaims.co.uk or consumerfinanceclaims.org.uk to handle my PPI claim.

Would you say it is best to use a professional or handle it myself with the risk of not being successful?

Cheers

    Hi there

Personally I would have a go at this myself, this way if successful you will receive every penny of the PPI that was mis sold to you, when going with a claims company, they will deduct so much of your refund.

So for a cost of a few stamps, I would give it a go yourself, you will receive free help from this site, with letter reclaiming templates, and advice to get you through every step of the way.

Check this link out here for more info on reclaiming and please ask for help when required.

    Hope this helps.;)

PPI claims are very easy as its pretty clear cut when you have been mis-sold or not. No point using a claims company to run off a template letter when you can get one for free.

  • I agree. Why pay over a shed load of your claim to someone else, when (if it's a relatively straight forward claim) you can do it yourself!! Have a look at the PPI claim success thread to see if there are other members of the MSE community who have successfully claimed back from the same company as you want to go after...

I was a bit concerned that my own claim was 'problematic', so I looked at claim companies on my own case. I was quoted fees of between 10 and 25% of the all the premium paid (plus VAT) PLUS all of any interest payment they won!! I then was told that my claim was "unwinnable" (by one of the solicitors working for a claim company) due to statute barring...

So I went to a specialist barrister (under what's called the Public Access Scheme) and for a FRACTION of the cost - not only got fantastic advice, but a lot of help preparing my claim. In the end I got back all the PPI, interest at the same rate as on the loan (13.5% compared to the statutory 8%) and..... because the other side played 'silly !!!!!!s' .... the barrister showed me how I could claim his costs back too!!
