I am thinking of getting my mum who has arthritis a massage chair for Christmas to ease some of the aches and pains, has anyone got them and does it have a impact on health? Recommendations please under £100 would be great. Thanks in advance.

Don't waste your money! My daughters bought me one and I used it about 3 times. The massage isn't deep enough to be of any help and the chairs themselves lean back too far to comfortable enough to sit in to read or watch tv (and they are big and take up a lot of room) It was returned to the shop and I had £100+ worth of proper massages instead which were brilliant (had roughly one a month on whichever bit of me that was stiffening up/hurting the most).0

I'd agree, I have one paid about £100 for it. It hardly gets used and is a pain to store because you cant leave it on the chair as it's not comfy to sit against when not using it for it's purpose.
It doesnt massage deeply enough and fits the back of the chair not the shape of your back. So I'm forever leaning and twisting to get it to work on my upper back, then again for lower. Probably giving myself more aches with all the twisting than get any benefit out of it.0 -
I agree with the others. I have used them on flights (built into the seats) and whilst they are pleasant, they don't really have any long term benefits.
Could you get her some vouchers for a proper massage?Gone ... or have I?0 -
I also agree with the comments on them not being worthwhile. I massage is such a personal thing depending on level of pain and areas of stress, the chairs are not specific enough in my experience. Thanks for the advice Martin! :money:Member no. 920 - Proud to be dealing with our debts0

Thank you all for your replies, I think Ill save up and get her a course of back massages (where she finds most problems.) Reading up heat pads maybe a better option to get heat into the joints may help.0
