Is it true that if Banks are forced to refund bank charges they will charge people £2.50 per transaction to withdrawel money from ATM machines? It was in the media yesterday and wondered if it were true.

It's true its been reported but remember we are in a period of smoking mirrors and there is also a lot of spin taking place. Its speculation, not definite.

The first bank to do this could be viewed as either brave or very foolish. People could still change their bank accounts, ie vote with their feet. Alternatively, you could still get your cash from inside the bank using a teller. That keeps people employed and I prefer dealing with real people anyway.

If a bank introduced a £2.50 charge for cash machines and everyone went into a branch for their cash there would be pandemonium and perhaps a rethink would follow. Remember however, that some ATM's located in shops, garages etc do charge for withdrawals. I always advocate that these should be avoided at all costs.

One thing is however, absolutely certain, the banks have no regard at all for us as people and will do whatever they think can make them more money. Cash is all they are interested in, nothing else. If they think they could get away with it and make more money, they will do whatever they think they can get away with, until they are challenged.

Sorry, my post was not meant to be all encompassing ie electron. The message I was attempting to get across is that a lot of media bank related stories are spin and nothing regards a £2.50 charge for cash withdrawals is definite.;)

    I did however say,

"People could still change their bank accounts, ie vote with their feet."

If this were to happen to you, I wholeheartedly applaud your stance to change your account and would recommend that anyone else does the same. Provided that everyone fully checks the conditions of the bank and account they move to.;)

It shows how bad things are getting when you have to go into the Jungle to escape bank charges :rotfl:

That's the plan I'm using... Don't give it away...

Failing that, a fake death is cool
  • Hi, 1st comment on here. My situ is as follows and would like to know if anyone knows what my options are.

I used another source to deal with my charges reclaim back in 2007. All relevant letters where sent to the bank with my claim total. This all happened before the case was appealed. I have not been able to get in touch with the person dealing with my claim now and I know i have had alot more charges in the last two years. I wish to know can i revise my claim witht the last 2 years charges included and how i would go about this now....I know my complaint has already been lodged, but can i now go back and get the last 6 years charges and reclaim myself?? Thanks

If you have appointed a representatitve to do the claim for you then you can start a new claim for the charges not covered by what the rep is dealing with. Ultimately, charges since that point would be yours and yours alone.
