If the last assessment was done in March 2008 it won't have changed - you will need to get a new assessment up to date, and that will be done with current allowances - it won't be backdated.
  • K, We tried to get a new assessment done based on his reduction in wages but we just had a letter sent back saying there is no change and obviously they dont include assessment breakdowns in a no change letter.

We also have an issue with them taking his travelling expenses as income (which I believe they shouldnt be) but thats a separate issue.

Do we just ask them for a reassessment based on the new allowance figure? Is there any rules where you can appeal for it to be backdated?

    Thanks as always :)

If you have had a letter saying that they are refusing to supercede an assessment you should be able to appeal - but it depends on whether it would change the assessment much.

If you want to PM me any details, I can work out an assessment for you and you can compare them.
  • Thanks Kelloggs, will PM you
