polmadie car boot sale

Hi,

Just done my first car boot sale on Saturday at polmadie. Read through hundreds of posts on this site to prepare myself for what lay in wait..... I just wanted to thank everyone that has ever left any comments re car boot sales as I think I went relatively prepared due to this site.

I can say with confidence that mostly everything anyone has said on here about car boots are very very true.
Didn't do it myself and took a pal along for support. Polmadie opens at 6am but that is to the public as well as the car booters. we went along just after 4am and there was quite a queue at that time. By 6am it was mobbed. We were "mugged" as soon as we drove into our pitch, quite intimidating with a rush of people around you asking you what you've got. Had quite a few people asking if we had perfume, computer games and mobile phone. Got a feeling they were regulars. I emptied the car with my pal keeping watch over our "stock". Went very wrapped up for the cold with loads of carrier bags and change.Made some laminated signs before we went advertising plus size clothing (went down a storm) and any new stuff I had.

Managed to sel most of the items we had with prices frolm 50p to a fiver for curtains (managed to sell helluva lot of curtains!)
A lot of people were selling kids clothes so I didn't sell a lot of them but junk I had lifted from the house sold amazingly well like candles, lamps, utensils, jewellery, handbags, shoes. I made a sign up advertising plus size clothes and we were swamped - sold everything!

Negatives - Toilets were disgusting, people don't even put their toilet paper down the toilet but all over the floor! You can't leave until 230pm, thats when it closes as you would be driving over people if you left sooner. Way round is to park in street and humf all your stuff in. There are a lot of people out there that 10p is too much to pay for something!

Overall, we had a great day, made £200 after costs. Would def do it again. Came home knackered and feeling boggin but a little heavier in the pocket with all those £1 coins.

So thank you everyone for your advice, you helped make me £200!!
On my way to well earned riches (I hope!) :T:T:T

Excellent! You'll have to find all those empty plastic money bags you've seen lying somewhere around the house now. It's the fun part counting it all up and handing it in to the bank! £200!! Well done you!
