I just had my eyebrows threaded for the first time yesterday. It did hurt quite a bit I thought but it was over quite quickly. My eyebrows are a great shape but I too now have red blotchy spots across the gap between my eyebrows and above the inner end of my eyebrows. I am also fair haired with mid brown eyebrows so maybe we more susceptible to it.

I am hoping it won't last for too long - I never get spots as have quite dry skin. I would suggest not having this done too near to your important event!

If spots go down within next 24 hrs they would try it again - if they last much longer - not so sure!

I have had mine done three times.
    The results are fabulous....at first!
A few days after I got spots on my eyebrows! Never had them before (or since!) so I put it down to the threading.
My friend is very dark skinned (i am fair) and has not had this problem, she aslo doesn't think it hurts at all.
My other friend (who is also blonde) had spots too!
It gives a fantastic result, very sharp unlike tweezing but it DOES hurt! but it is over with very quickly like waxing.
Give it a go, its the only way to see what you think!

After watching the youtube demo (link on this thread) I decided to give it a go this morning. I love it. I found it quite easy once I got the thread the right length for me to control it well. I've only done it on my top lip so far. Eyebrows will be a bit more tricky as I have to have my glasses on to do it, and they get in the way.

I get the red spots with waxing so threading is great for me.
i do find it painful but i have pale skin and dark thick hair which i think makes it worse

Threading the eyebrows is amazing, the best finish ever, and doesn't really hurt. I would highly recommend it.

My sister is a complete wuss and shreaks if you pluck her eyebrows but was fine with threading.

It is a good idea to look at the eyebrows of the lady who does yours but most people can't thread their own so she is unlikely to have done them!!!!

There are two different ways of doing threading too, one using a figure of eight thread and another where you hold the thread in your teeth.

You shouldn't expect to pay any more than you would for waxing, it is cheaper to thread a client's eyebrows as you don't use as many products, as much power or as much time. Many places charge the same for tweezing, waxing and threading but some salons, particularly asian ones do the threading cheaper.

Having your lip threaded stings like hell!!! It is a form of torture that they should consider using on terror suspects - I'd talk!!! But worth it as the results are smooth with little or no irritation.

I get my eyebrows threaded, but theres no way on earth I'd let her anywhere near any other part of my face or body - I'd be screaming the place down . My eyes water when I'm having my brows threaded, and she's very quick and efficient doing those - but it does hurt a bit. Well worth the £5 though.
  • Does it grow back dark on your upper lip? I have a slight shadow but have never done anything bar trimming it (as much as possible...) with nail scissors. Always too worried it would grow back darker when at the moment it's not too bad but would try something if didn't have to worry about the growth after.

    Thanks everyone!
What's fur ye won't go by ye!
  • Regrowth is less noticeable, if anything - it doesn't affect hair colour at all, jiw.

Make sure your face is clean, as I think the spots are part caused by stuff already on your skin before you have threading. An antibacterial soap would guarantee the skin was clean.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.
