We too have had a SA( now Pru) endowment( with profits) for almost 25 years- ours finishes later this year. This policy was still green in recent years when these companies decided to give us a RAG indication as to ;policy progression, however certainly in the last three years this has turned to red, and both my husband and I were expecting from the indications give( if the % rises by X,Y or Z) that there would be a distinct shortfall. Do I understand from the posts above that this might not be the case? I don't expect to make anything but is there a possibility that we might break even? Sorry if I have misunderstood?

A maturity this year that was red last year is almost certainly going to shortfall. However, the scale of the shortfall may not be as bad as it looked last year. A maturity 3 or 4 years down the road may see it return to surplus again depending on the type of recovery we have.

  • This doesn't sound too promising.

If my Scottish Amicable policy matures in May with an £850 shortfall, I'll be delighted:j
