70% seems to be the standard recovery rate, and needs to be addressed as a social policy issue, if enough people lobby their MP and use CAB to highlight this it may cause the utilities to lower the rate0

70% recovery rate wouldn't always be a problem - there really needs to be some form of assessment where those able to pay are set the repayment at this level. (clearing the debt quickly is a win-win normally), and for those less able a more sympathetic rate. This currently doens't exsist but imho it's well past time.0

I rang them again today, with all the numbers. Fair play, they were very sympathetic. Apparently if I was on benefits, I could have the rate reduced straight away, but as Im working, I have to go to the C.A.B, and get them to write a 'financial statement' about me, which I can then fax to the gas company, and have the recovery rate reduced. You lied to me Edward. Although the 70% is standard, it should never take more than the agreed amount (in this case £7 or £15, although the meter says £0?)
70% (here) is the maximum the meter will take from each purchase.
So if you have an agreed amount of £10, but only out on £10, the meter will take £7, leaving the other £3 for next time. If however you top up £20, it will only take £10.
I have put the all the screen up before, but can't remember what they all are (not quite that geeky!)0 -
So... after a two week wait, ive just been to the CAB for some help. And they were absolutely useless. Really, truly the most unhelpful people in the world.
So Im back to square one.
Its freezing outside, and I cant afford to heat my home.
Does anyone, at all, have any advice as to what I can do next? You lied to me Edward. There IS a Swansea. And other places.....
