Gps ... Sat Nav???!?!?!?
Can someone please explain the difference between the two! Do you need both? are they the same? hmmmm!
I need one of those little box screen things that will tell me which way to go ..... and I want to pay a one off fee for the purchase, I don't want to be paying monthly subscriptions.
So, how does it work without monthly subscriptions? I have looked at a number site, but everyone there seems to know what they are talking about ... and I don't
TIA!

GPS (Global Positioning System) is the constellation of satellites that transmits signals so a GPS receiver can work out where it is in the world.
SatNav devices have a GPS receiver in them (plus a screen and some software and some maps) and use this GPS data to work out where they are, so they can route you appropriately.
Bottom line: You want to buy a SatNav.0 -
Forgot the monthly subscription bit:
There is no monthly fee for using SatNav. The GPS satellites are operated by the US government and transmit a signal that is unencrypted and free to pick up (they also transmit an encrypted, far more accurate signal that the military use)0
