Jessops repairs

  • Hi,
I asked Jessops to repair my camera. I received an estimate at £70,50 and told them to continue with the repair. Now two weeks later they have found additional repair work and want to charge me another £43.
Can they do this? Is it legal? Or should they continue out the repair at the original estimate they gave me?

I'm really looking forward to replies. Thanks :)

Thanks for your response. The extra cost are for parts; it's liquid damage to the lens assy. Supply and fit, calibrate and test.

They had asked me how the camera got broken, so they knew in advance they could have expected liquid in it.

Can I do something about this?

Did they give an estimate or a quote?
A quote is fixed, an estimate isn't...

    They gave me an estimate.
I assume they're in their right then. And I can't request them to repair it for they original estimate?
    Thank you.

If it was an estimate, you wouldn't be able to request they repair it for that. It's just an educated guess based on what they expect to be wrong with it, but if, on closer inspection, there is more that needs fixing, they will have to charge more
