I am trying to fit a catflap in my back door. Ive drilled a hole and tried to use the jigsaw with a metal blade as there is metal inbetween the 2 plastic pannels. The trouble is is chews the blades up in seconds!! ive only managed to cut a few cm.
Ive fitted catflaps in my old wooden doors and there a doodle, does anyone know what i can use to cut through this door?
Ive had some quotes of £75! So i want to do it myself.
Any help or advice greatly appreciated.

I used a sharp knife for the plastic and foam bits, and wire cutters for the steel mesh inside. Horrible job, kept slipping with the knife, but looks OK in the end. Should be easier if you drill a few holes first.

Get a metal cutting blade for the jigsaw, the metal is usually only thin aluminium sheet and cuts easily with the correct blade0

Replace the wire mesh panel with a non - wire mesh plain panel, cut the cat flap hole before swapping panels.0

A padsaw. Like a one ended hacksaw.
You will get something similar at most DIY stores, they use hacksaw blades. Use a fine tooth blade and lubricate it lightly with oil or parafin.
BTW there is a thread on fitting cat flaps in UVPC doors already here. Some advice from pros in there.
